Hi crion30,
If an update is installed on the computer it would be listed under Installed update
It looks like that the update for the network adapter was not installed successfully.
I would suggest that you download the update for network adapter from the manufacturer website using the below link and later run Windows update
You may set the way you want windows to install updates for devices using the optional update, for more information refer the below link.
Update a driver for hardware that isn t working properly

The June 2010 driver update from Microsoft also messed up my Atheros AR5005G wireless adapter, I had to rollback to the previous driver 9/2005.

I solved this problem by: Right Clicking on My Computer -- Properties -- Hardware -- Device Manager -- Network Devices -- Right Click Atheros Wireless Card -- Properties -- Driver Tab -- Roll Back Driver
Windows brought it back to the previous version of the Atheros Driver.
The reason I m here is because my AVG threw an alert in my face the other day stateing Atheros AR928X Wireless Network Adapter was blocked as a trojan. . not knowing what a Atheros AR928X Wireless Network Adapter was, I became alarmed and googled
it - hence, my visit here today.
I think I ll send a cyber hug to my AVG.
With everything that s turning to cybercrap before my very eyes these days like cable cost increases for pixelation, black screen and lousy service to AT T DSL dropping internet, crappy Motorola modems, clueless support, deceptive broadmand explainations
- i could go on you know - but I won t.

Yes, I have had the same thing. Fortunately I use my Tosh Satelite as a desktop with the lid permanently closed and since it is beside the router I have hard-wired it with a CAT5e cable.
There are a few driver issues on my machine, and when I realised the WiFi didn t work I also tried to uninstall and reinstall only to be told that the driver is up to date. Like you, I rolled back to the previous driver and fortunately that worked.
I also keep a spare WiFi dongle handy and if the roll back hadn t worked, I think that would have done the job.
Other drivers also have problems. For example, the Seagate and WD external drives are showing that the drivers need reinstalling but the devices work so I am ignoring it. I am sure it will all get fixed eventually. One of the messages says the driver is
unsigned.
Upon logging in today, I booted my internet-using applications skype, browser, ventrillo and then noticed the windows update bubble in my tray. Clicking it, I saw that there were several updates, one optional, one important. The optional was an update
driver update. for my Atheros AR928X Wireless Network Adapter. Thinking that it is probably best to have up to date drivers, I told windows update to install everything. Shortly after clicking the install button, I was dropped from my internet connection
and was unable to restore it despite all of my admittedly limited efforts. I have tried to delete it from the installed updates list in windows updates, it isn t in that list. I have rolled back the driver on my wireless adapter, to no avail. That about
exhausts my limited abilities. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I m really quite angry about this whole thing. Seems that windows update shouldn t break things should it.
